Hurricanes score strangest goal you will ever see

There are all kinds of bounces in the NHL. Lucky bounces. Bad bounces. And then there is the rare inexplicable bounce, which for the Carolina Hurricanes resulted in a goal on Tuesday night.

At 9:44 of the second period against the Pittsburgh Penguins, ‘Canes forward Kris Versteeg fired a shot from the circle at Marc-Andre Fleury that seemed to tip off Sidney Crosby’s stick, go over the Pens’ net, hit the glass, fall down onto Fleury’s back and go into the net.

Seriously. That happened.

Basically the hockey equivalent of a bank shot.

By our very unofficial count, Versteeg is leading the league in flukey goals this season so it’s no surprise he delivered another gem for the Hurricanes. Carolina held off the Penguins comeback too, winning 3-2 in OT.
